Brisbane, Sep 26, 2008 AEST (ABN Newswire) - The Chairman of Queensland Gas Company Limited (ASX:QGC)(PINK:QGSCF), Bob Bryan, today welcomed one of BG Group's most senior executives as an Alternate Director of the Board of QGC.

BG Group's Executive Vice President and Managing Director for the Americas and Global LNG, Martin Houston, has been nominated as an Alternate Director.
Mr Houston is responsible for one of the three regions covering BG Group's worldwide operations. His responsibilities include overseeing BG Group's businesses in the Americas and Australia in addition to BG Group's industry-leading global LNG activities.
A petroleum geologist by training, he has held technical, commercial and general management roles in numerous countries worldwide during his 25-year career at BG Group.
Mr Bryan said that as an Alternate Director, Mr Houston would be encouraged to participate in a dynamic QGC Board, overseeing one of Australia's largest capital infrastructure projects, Queensland Curtis LNG.
"Martin Houston has great experience and stature in BG Group, particularly in the development of global liquefied natural gas projects, and we are delighted with his nomination,' Mr Bryan said.
"We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with BG Australia Managing Director David Maxwell who had previously filled the role as Alternate Director. I am sure that this will continue with Martin Houston.' Mr Maxwell has stood aside from the board to devote greater focus to leading BG's Australian business, particularly BG's role in the Queensland Curtis LNG Project. The BG Australia activities report to Mr Houston.
