Sydney, Jan 30, 2008 AEST (ABN Newswire) - IBA Health Group Limited (ASX: IBA) - Australia's largest listed specialist information technology company, today announced that IBA's 51% owned Chinese subsidiary, Shanghai People's Health (SPH) has been awarded a contract valued at over RMB6.4 million (A$1 million) and reached preferred vendor status in second e-Health contract valued at over RMB10 million (A$1.5).

Changning District Regional Medical Information Network has awarded SPH a contract for RMB6.4 million ($1 million) to complete phase two of the Changning District e-Health project. The funding will allow SPH to complete connections to 5 tier 2A hospitals and 11 tier 1A hospitals, delivering outpatient services to over 1,000 outpatients by over 100 doctors everyday in each hospital.

This follows a contract awarded in 2006 to roll-out a private network linking 20,000 families with doctors through 11 hospitals and community centres in Shanghai's Changning District. The network is already facilitating patient/doctor/carer consultations utilising multiple-party, simultaneous consultations across the internet and internet TV (IPTV).

In addition SPH has reached preferred vendor status for the delivery of an e-Health infrastructure and software project to support internet based consultations and remote delivery of care by health professionals in one of China's largest provinces. The project is initially valued at more than RMB10 million ($1.5 million). Two districts within the province are expected to commence implementation in the 1st quarter of 2008.

SPH has also been awarded a contract to broadcast health education messages through SPH's IPTV based Health Channel in Shanghai.

Commenting on the projects Gary Cohen, Executive Chairman and CEO of the IBA Health Group said "our strategy in China is geared towards developing solutions that offer customers and patients the opportunity to manage their healthcare with as little time as possible spent at the larger acute care facilities. Through the internet based infrastructure projects we are developing there is the potential to fundamentally change the way healthcare is delivered in China.

"The two internet based e-Health projects and the contract to broadcast health content underpins the development of our IPTV based Health Channel, further demonstrating the very valuable access rights we have with this healthcare delivery medium.

"With discussions well advanced with potential partners who will provide access to a larger market we expect to see the expansion of this capability," concluded Mr Cohen.
