Diamond Drilling at Onedin 2006
Perth, May 1, 2009 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Phase two of a resource definition and extension diamond drilling programme at Anglo Australian Resources' (ASX:AAR)(PINK:AAURF) wholly owned Koongie Project, located 25kms east of Halls Creek, was completed in November 2008. The program which included a number of deep drill holes consisted of 7214m of RC pre-collars and 2624.2m of diamond core tails, tested the Sandiego, Onedin, Atlantis and Neptune prospects. Substantive new intersections outside the Onedin and Sandiego resource models (previously announced in the December quarterly announcement to the ASX, have justified re-estimation of both resources. CSA Global was commissioned to undertake this work.
OVERVIEW
The substantial tonnage increase of the Sandiego resource has the potential to increase mine life envisaged in the Pre-Feasibility Study, into development of the Sandiego deposit, from 4 to 7 years (based on Sandiego ore alone). There is significant potential to further increase resources as Sandiego mineralisation remains open at depth.
The substantial increase of the copper lodes within both the transition and the sulphide zone at Sandiego is very positive and most likely positively impact on the development economics of the project. The recently completed Pre-Feasibility Study did not envisage mining of any copper mineralization in the Transition Zone where the recent intersections have been obtained. The potential of this copper mineralization to positively impact on the development economics of the Sandiego deposit is under evaluation with minor additional metallurgical work and engineering studies.
Conformation of the new geological model at Onedin is also very positive, providing a framework for future drilling programs.
