Seoul, Sep 10, 2008 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Hanjin Shipping (SEO:000700) is pleased to announce the opening of the Euromax Terminal in Rotterdam, Netherlands that took place on September 5th, 2008.

The Euromax Terminal has been developed jointly by ECT (Europe Container Terminal) and the CKYH (Cosco Group, K-Line, Yang Ming Line and Hanjin Shipping) Alliance.

The terminal is located in Maasvlakte-1 with 4 berths in Phase-1 and shall be expanded to Phase 4. A total of 2.3 million TEU can be handled in Phase-1 and the terminal will be able to handle 5.6 million TEU once Phase 4 is completed.

Also, the Euromax terminal located in the mouth of the Maas River has many benefits; excellent access, state-of-the-art facilities with on-dock rail, automatic handling system and hybrid equipment allowing not only low cost and high efficiency but also eco-friendliness.

As the Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and the hub port connecting Benelux, Great Britain, Scandinavia and the North West of Germany, Hanjin Shipping expects that the opening of the Euromax Terminal in Rotterdam will enable the company to provide more stable service and a wider feeder network to its customers.

Mr. Young Min Kim, COO (Chief Operation Officer) of Hanjin Shipping, adds, "The unique combination of strengths the Euromax Terminal has certainly provides a solid foundation to grow upon. With many ports around the world facing capacity issues, this new terminal will be able to avoid this concern by increasing efficiency with also allowing access to larger vessels."

Meanwhile, Hanjin Shipping, with another European dedicated terminal in Antwerp introduced back in 2006, is studying the possibility of securing more dedicated terminals in a variety of logistics hubs such as in the Mediterranean, South East Asia, etc.
