Kongsberg Automotive Holding ASA (OSL:KOA) Kongsberg, 14 August 2008.

Kongsberg Automotive Driveline business group has won a contract with a world leading producer of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The new business includes delivery of manual gear shifters, with the company's patent for cables abutment.

The order value is estimated to be €36 million.

The program name for this contract is X83 Renault Trafic, which is a joint project between GM and Renault. The new model, with the shifter from Kongsberg Automotive, is going to be launched early 2010.

"This is a major achievement for us", says Peter Spencer, President for Driveline Systems at Kongsberg Automotive. Our R&D department started on this project back in 2005. After three years of testing and discussions with the client's engineers, we managed to develop a gear shift system that out-competed our strongest competitor in this segment. This contract proves our ability to design competitive gear shift systems through technological innovation and process improvements", he remarks.
