Perth, July 12, 2006 AEST (ABN Newswire) - A highly experienced mining executive has been welcomed to the Board of Directors of Crescent Gold Limited (ASX: CRE) today as the Company prepares for mine start-up later this year from its Laverton gold project in Western Australia.

Mr David Keough has 20 years of technical and managerial mining experience in Australia and overseas. He currently serves as the Director of Operations for Goldcorp Brazil.

Previously, Mr Keough has held positions including:

- Goldcorp Inc. - General Manager, Corporate Development, reporting to the COO.

- MIM Holdings - Principal Advisor, Business Development - Latin America.

- Minera Alumbrera Ltd. - Manager of Mining at the Alumbrera Mine, Argentina (previously Mine Superintendent).

- Placer (Granny Smith) Pty Limited - Chief Geologist.

- Osborne Mines Ltd. - Senior Mine Geologist and prior to that - Construction Area Manager (Placer Dome Technical Services).

- Big Bell Mine Pty Ltd. - Senior Mine Engineer, Western Australia.

Mr Keough's appointment as a Director is effective immediately and expands the Crescent Board numbers to six.

Mr Keough has either led or been a key team participant for numerous improvements in operational and exploration efficiencies;

- Significant and sustainable operational improvements at Alumbrera.

- Leading Integration and Optimization teams on mines (and projects) acquired by Wheaton River/Goldcorp to improve exploration, operational and economic performance, including;

1. The Peak (Cobar),
2. Red Lake (Canada),
3. La Coipa (Chile), and
4. Amapari (Brazil).

- Implemented grade control and geotechnical practices for Placer Granny Smith's successful development of the high grade Sunrise Dam pit.
- Instigated significant cost savings at Big Bell Mines.

- Life of Mine plan for Alumbrera, optimum expansion and development strategy.

- At Placer Granny Smith - implemented an aggressive acquisition and engineering evaluation program of "grass roots" and mid-stage projects (partially drilled) within trucking distance of the mine. Two economic deposits for the project were secured.


- Management participation in the exploration, evaluation, design and construction of the Osborne Mine for Placer Dome Technical Services.
