Carbon Energy Limited (ASX:CNX)(PINK:CNXAF) today announced results from its recent A$20m Bloodwood Creek Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) commercial trial. The 100 day trial completed at the end of January 2009 successfully demonstrated the Company's capability to convert in-situ coal into significant quantities of UCG syngas (energy).

Yesterday Australian shares lost their early gains and ended lower, dragged by big miners. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 0.2%, or 5.6 points, at 3446.3, while the broader All Ordinaries index fell by 0.2%, or 7.2 points, at 3386.2.

Carbon Energy Limited (ASX:CNX)(PINK:CNXAF) today released further results of its drilling programme which has been in progress at Bloodwood Creek and Kogan. The latest analysis of the drilling data confirms a much greater than expected increase (+125%) to its total resource which has risen from 296.9 million tonnes to 668 million tonnes (indicated and inferred). 364 million tonnes of this resource is in coal seams greater than 5m thick which are an optimal target for underground coal gasification.

Australian shares yesterday closed higher after the lift of commodities prices. The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was up 38.4 points, or 1.08 per cent, at 3,589.3, while the broader All Ordinaries index advanced 36.1 points, or 1.03 per cent, to 3,531 after a positive lead from Wall Street on Friday.

The production of commercially viable syngas has been confirmed at Carbon Energy's (ASX:CNX) Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) plant in southeast Queensland, the company announced today.
