Mr William Curran, who joins the board effective immediately, is a New York-based company director with extensive experience in the medical device industry, including a 28-year career with Philips culminating in a senior role with Philips Medical Systems in USA.

The VentrAssist is still the only centrifugal LVAD and the only third generation LVAD in clinical trials in the USA. Today's agreement between Ventracor (ASX: VCR) and Heartware (ASX: HTW) removes any potential uncertainty surrounding the issue of intellectual property currently owned by either party.
