Beach Energy Limited (ASX:BPT) (PINK:BEPTF) has made a new field oil discovery at Elliston-1, the second successful exploration well from three drilled in PEL 92 (Beach 75%) for the financial year to date.

Drillsearch Energy Limited (ASX:DLS) (PINK:DRLLF) is pleased to announce that following its fourth success in the Western Flank Oil Fairway drilling program with the discovery of oil at Bauer-1 that Searcy-1, the fifth well in the five well program spudded at 20:45hrs, Wednesday 10 August 2011. Drillsearch holds a 60% interest in PEL 91 while Beach Energy Limited (ASX:BPT) (PINK:BEPTF) as operator holds 40%. To date, Drillsearch has drilled four new oil discoveries on the first four oil exploration wells - Hanson-1, Snellings-1, Arno-1 and Bauer-1 as part of the 5-well Western Flank Oil exploration program.

Beach Energy Limited (ASX:BPT) (PINK:BEPTF) has completed its internal assessment of the resource potential of the Holdfast-1 and Encounter-1 vertical shale gas wells with the booking of an initial gross contingent resource of 2 trillion cubic feet of sales gas. While PEL 218 (Beach 90%) is approximately 1,600km2 in size, this resource booking has been constrained to areas of 100km2 around each of the two purpose drilled shale gas evaluation wells. Data collected to date indicate the shales are continuous across the PEL 218 acreage.

The commencement of the FY12 Joint Venture approved nine well exploration and development program, set down for PEL 92, will now follow this program.
