AUSTRALIA

Nappamerri Trough Natural Gas

In PEL 218 (Beach Energy Ltd (Beach) 70% and operator, Chevron Australia Exploration 1 Pty Ltd (Chevron) 30%), the Boston-3 horizontal well, the second horizontal in the Nappamerri Trough, commenced drilling on 7 September. The primary appraisal objective of Boston-3 will be to evaluate the Murteree Shale in this part of the permit. Boston-3 is currently at a depth of 896 metres.

Rapid-1, the tenth vertical exploration well in PEL 218, reached total depth of 4,208 metres in the Patchawarra Formation. Rapid-1 will be cased and suspended for future evaluation. Once released from Rapid-1, the rig will move to ATP 855 (Beach 46.9% and operator, Icon Energy Ltd 35.1%, Chevron 18%) to commence drilling the Geoffrey-1 vertical exploration well.

Cooper-Eromanga Oil - Western Flank

In PEL 91 (Beach 40% and operator, Drillsearch Energy Ltd 60%), a three well exploration campaign was undertaken to test the Birkhead Formation stratigraphic play based on interpretation of the Aquillus 3D seismic survey. The final well of the campaign, Neaves-1, was drilled to total depth of 2,067 metres and intersected several thick Birkhead sands, validating the seismic model, but failed to intersect hydrocarbons. Neaves-1 was plugged and abandoned.

In PEL 92 (Beach 75% and operator, Cooper Energy Ltd 25%), Windmill-2 was drilled to total depth of 1,743 metres. The well appraised the Windmill Field, 200 meters north of Windmill-1, where oil was intersected the Namur sandstone reservoir. Windmill-2 intersected a 4 metre gross oil column in the Namur and a 2 metre gross oil column in the Birkhead. The well was cased and suspended as a future Namur oil producer.

Cooper Basin Oil and Gas Exploration and Development

In the gas exploration program in Queensland (Beach 23.2%, Santos Ltd (Santos) 60.06% and operator, Origin Energy Resources Ltd (Origin) 16.5%, Australia Pacific LNG (APL) 0.24%), the Bolah-1 gas exploration well is at 945 metres and preparing to drill ahead after setting 7-5/8"surface casing. The primary objective in this well is the Toolachee Formation.

In the gas development program in Queensland (Beach 23.2%, Santos 60..06% and operator, Origin 16.5%, APL 0.24%), the Okotoko West-3 ST1 well was cased and suspended as a Toolachee Formation and Patchawarra Formation gas producer.

In the South Australian Cooper Basin Joint Venture (SACB JV) gas development program (Beach 20.21%, Santos 66.6% and operator, Origin 13.19%), Cowralli-19, -20, and -29 have been cased and suspended. These wells are scheduled for fracture stimulation ahead of being brought online. Pelican-13 was also cased and suspended as a Patchawarra Formation and Tirrawarra Sandstone gas producer.

In the SACB JV unconventional gas appraisal program, Langmuir-1 has been cased and suspended at a total depth of 3,815 metres in the Merrimelia Formation. The gas deliverability of the Permian section will be assessed as part of future evaluation of the well. Moomba-194 was drilled to total depth of 3,368 metres and is currently running electric logs ahead of anticipated case and suspend.

Drilling in the Irtalie Field (Beach 38.5%, Santos 55.5%, Bridgeport (Eromanga) Pty Ltd (Bridgeport) 2%, Australian Gasfields Ltd 2%, Bounty Oil and Gas N.L. (Bounty) 2%) continued with the drilling of Irtalie East-5. The well was cased and suspended as a future Basal Birkhead/Hutton oil producer.

Activity in the Cooroo Field (Beach 38.5%, Santos 55.5%, Bridgeport 2%, Australian Gasfields Ltd 2%, Bounty 2%) recommenced on the 17 September with the drilling of the Cooroo North West culmination. The well was cased and suspended as a future Westbourne and Basal Birkhead/Hutton oil producer.

INTERNATIONAL

Abu Sennan Concession, Egypt (Beach 22%, Kuwait Energy Egypt Ltd 50% and operator, Dover Investments Ltd 28%)

ASB-1X is at 4,308 metres and drilling ahead in 8 1/2" hole. This well is testing a prospect that has Late Cretaceous and Jurassic exploration targets, with an expected total depth of 4,843 metres Measured Depth (4,329 metres True Vertical Depth).

Est Cobalcescu Concession, Black Sea, Romania (Beach 30%, Melrose Resources Romania 40% and operator, Petromar Resources 30%)

The 01RX Cobalcescu South Exploration well in Block EX-28 Est Cobalcescu, offshore Romania, is at 1,629 metres and cementing the 13 3/8" intermediate casing string. The well is evaluating the hydrocarbon potential of Pontian (upper Miocene) aged sands at various levels.
