Western Manganese Limited (ASX:WMN) Quarterly Activities Report Ended 30 June 2011

Perth, July 21, 2011 AEST (ABN Newswire) - Western Manganese Limited (googlechartASX:WMN) is pleased to issue the following quarterly report ended 30 June 2011.

Project Update

A regional office has been opened in Atambua in West Timor and WMN employed two geologists in early May. A logistics officer has also joined the Atambua team and all three are permanently based in Atambua.

Field work, as outlined in the Prospectus dated 8 December 2010, commenced in earnest during the current quarter. The focus of the Atambua team has been the mapping of Nusalontar Karyatama (Nusalontar) and reviewing licences in the area for potential acquisition by WMN.

Nusalontar License owned by CV Nusalontar Karyatama

Work commenced on Nusalontar during the quarter. A comprehensive sampling program has been completed with many manganese outcropping being sampled. Detailed mapping is now in progress and it is expected that the mapping program will be completed during the third calendar quarter of 2011.

During the sampling program approximately 49 samples were taken. The samples will be sent to Geo Services in Jakarta for analysis and the board will announce the results when available.

All the known workings were revisited. Fifteen additional workings, not previously known, have been located. Ten of these additional workings are located in the eastern portion of the licence. The latest field work therefore confirms that the manganese-bearing unit is developed over the eastern portion of the licence as postulated in the prospectus. The strike extent of the manganese-bearing horizon could therefore be as high as 6 kilometres.

Information and data gathered during the sampling and mapping is in the process of being compiled. This data will be used to revise our geological model of the licence area. Once the geological model has been revised the next phase of work will be initiated.

Should the sampling and mapping results be positive, a comprehensive trenching program will be required, however it is likely to take the entire third calendar quarter to finalise formalities and paper work associated with the trenching program.

As stated in the prospectus, the Nusalontar license is well located in terms of road and port infrastructure locally and advantaged internationally on account of its close proximity to markets from India and China.

Community Development Program

During the third calendar quarter, the board proposes implementation of the first stage of a community development program. Funds are proposed to be donated through Gerakan Nasional Orang Tua Asuh www.gn-ota.or.id to help support the educational needs of the Timor Tengah Utara Regency's children. Nusalontar is situated within the Timor Tengah Utara Regency. This initiative will help foster good relations with the local community.

Kasih Mulia License owned by CV Kasih Mulia (Kasih Mulia)

At present, no further exploration activities are being conducted on the Kasih Mulia license due to recent land access issues and shareholder issues within CV. Kasih Mulia.

Other Activities

WMN is aggressively pursuing other investment opportunities in West Timor. At least eight other manganese licences have been visited by our geological team since ASX listing.

Discussions and negotiations with some of these licence holders are in progress.

Satellite images ordered from Australia arrived towards the end of June. These images are being used to identify priority targets. A number of targets have already been identified and are being reviewed at the moment. Systems are in place to track down the owners of priority licences identified during the satellite analysis. Identification of new targets in West Timor will continue during the third calendar quarter of 2011.

The board is confident that it can deliver to shareholders in a timely manner, further acquisitions or rights to additional exploration licences and focus on exploration potential.

Thank you and welcome

On behalf of the board, I thank original shareholders for your loyalty and take this opportunity to state that we are mindful of the WMN listing price (20c) and the post listing "high" (26c). We also take this opportunity to welcome new shareholders.
