The centre is planned to be completed in the Kerca logistics area in Kerava in early 2011. The main cooperation partner in construction will be SRV.
The logistics centre will serve as the joint central warehouse of Anttila, Kodin Ykkönen and NetAnttila. The total investment in the project will be about €50 million. When planning the new centre, Anttila provides for the growth during future decades. The floor area of the logistics centre will be around 19,000 m² and the cubic area some 300,000 m3. The target is to further improve the speed and accuracy of the deliveries of NetAnttila and department stores.
"Modern warehousing technology and the warehouse management and delivery system will account for more than half of the total investment. Now it is a good time to start building, as the availability of labour is good and the prices of building supplies have come down," says Matti Leminen, President of Anttila.
In terms of traffic, the location of the Kerca area is good. It provides fast access to all major roads of Southern Finland, while deliveries both to and from there can bypass the most congested areas of the Greater Helsinki Area. Kerca will also have direct rail connection to the main line and the Vuosaari Harbour in Helsinki.
Anttila has approximately 1,300 employees in the Greater Helsinki area, of whom some 250 work in the current central warehouse located in Hämeenkylä, Vantaa, which was built in 1975 and expanded in 1985 and 1990.
