Cermaq ASA (OSL:CEQ) Mainstream Dedicates Resources To Combat Sanitary Issues In The Salmon Industry In Chile

Cermaq ASA (OSL:CEQ) The Chilean salmon farming industry has been suffering from a severe disease problem that to a large extent has impacted all the companies involved. Although measures taken both by industries and authorities are in place, Mainstream believes it is important to dedicate specific resources for monitoring the sanitary status, and that this process should be decoupled from the daily operations Consequently Mainstream Americas division will be reorganized as of February 2009 by creating the new role as Deputy COO.

This new position will be in charge of the redesign of our productive chain in Chile in order to minimize the impact of virulent diseases like ISA in our operations. Whereas the sanitary issues in Chile are the principal focus now, the position will also have the responsibility to oversee the overall sanitary challenges in our businesses in Americas.

Ricardo Klaassen, current Managing Director of Mainstream Chile, has been appointed to this new position.

Francisco Miranda, currently the Managing Director of Mainstream Scotland, is appointed as new Managing Director of Mainstream Chile. Chilean born, Francisco has had a very successful career in Cermaq, holding key positions in Chile, Canada and for the last two years in Scotland. Francisco will bring with him valuable experience from the global fish farming industry.
