London, England - 20th November 2008. CleanEquity Monaco, the environmental technology conference, will follow the same format as last year's hugely successful event. Up to 50 of the world's most exciting next generation Cleantech companies will present throughout Thursday 19th & Friday 20th March 2009. The conference will commence with the CEO's dinner on Wednesday 18th March. This invitation only annual event integrates the top decision makers, from the international investor, construction and political communities, as well as global media.

Barclays Wealth, this year's lead sponsor, will be joined by NYSE Euronext, poised to become the stock exchange for Cleantech companies worldwide. Francesco Grosoli, CEO, Barclays Wealth, Monaco, commented: "Whether they are business owners in this sector looking for guidance on the sale or exit of their business, or clients interested in alternative investments, there's definitely an increasing commitment among investors towards 'indirect' returns, such as the future of the environment."

"The increased demand we're seeing correlates with industry data that suggests global venture-capital investments in clean technology gained 37% in twelve months, to a record $2.6 billion* for the third quarter of 2008. Although this may be surprising because of the current market volatility, it also demonstrates the clear commitment towards ethical investments," Francesco Grosoli noted.

"At Barclays Wealth we take our role as an industry leader seriously and invest substantially in research, creativity and innovation. For this reason, we're proud to sponsor CleanEquity Monaco 2009, a conference that provides a forum for new thinking - especially in a sector that has such importance," Francesco Grosoli said.

"CleanEquity Monaco creates a global platform of decision-makers, investors and entrepreneurs. The event drives real business and as a result there's an energy and dynamism around the gathering that you don't often see," explained Paul Clements-Hunt, Head of United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative. "UNEP FI attended CleanEquity 2008 and we're certainly going back in 2009 giving our full support to the event. Environmental investing is emerging as a new asset class that is rooted in the real world. CleanEquity puts cutting-edge technologies together with policy-makers, financiers and some of the smartest people in the global business community. It's an event that makes a difference."

For the second year running, key international and national publications will be reporting on the event. Hugin, the news distribution service, has generously ensured that news of the event and the presenting companies will reach about 1.2 million people in the global business community.
