Dako, a world leader in cancer diagnostics, has acquired 100% of the shares in the Norwegian instrument-development company, InstrumeC. The parties have agreed not to publish the financial conditions of the agreement.

Dako has acquired 100% of the shares in the Norwegian instrument-development company, InstrumeC. The acquisition is in line with Dako's strategy to contribute to faster and more accurate cancer diagnoses by improving the workflow in pathology laboratories around the world.

The Norwegian company InstrumeC has five employees and an extensive external network in software development and instrument production. It has more than 15 years' experience in the innovation, design and production of cover slippers and H&E stainers.

The acquisition of InstrumeC means, that Dako can now integrate H&E stains into its overall workflow package. All tests done in pathology laboratories must go through H&E staining, also known as "routine staining", before any cancer diagnosis can be made. Dako's workflow package today includes complete solutions for immuno stains, special stains as well as Dako Link middleware which connects the entire pathology lab's workflow.

"Our long-term strategy is to deliver the best solutions for all pathology-laboratory processes. InstrumeC's H&E staining instrument is an important addition to our product portfolio. In the longer term, InstrumeC's complementary technology will strengthen Dako's development of the next generation of instruments, in order to meet the needs of patients and hospitals for faster, safer and more accurate cancer diagnostics. InstrumeC has attracted attention in the sector for many years. This is why I am very pleased that we now will have such excellent skills and experience on board" says Patrik Dahlén, CEO of Dako.

Founder and co-owner of InstrumeC, Øystein Ljungmann, has along with his son and co-owner Torstein Ljungmann, chosen to sell the company and to continue their innovative work within Dako.
