Michael Mandel succeeds Andre Carls as CEO - Torsten Daenert takes over as CFO from Karin Katerbau - Carsten Strauß joins the Board of Managing Directors

Quickborn, 4 March 2008. A new team is taking up the reins on the Board of Managing Directors at comdirect bank with immediate effect. Andre Carls (44), the former Chief Executive, is now heading up Commerzbank AG's new Eastern Europe holding and is also the CFO and Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of BRE Bank in Poland. At the same time Karin Katerbau (44), previously CFO of comdirect bank, is now the Chief Operating Officer of the Private and Business Customers segment of Commerzbank AG. "Together Andre Carls and Karin Katerbau have significantly shaped the successful growth course of comdirect bank and I would like to express my heartfelt thanks. Their expertise and experience will now strengthen our activities in Eastern Europe on the one hand and our Private and Business Customers segment on the other," said Achim Kassow, the Board member responsible for Retail Banking at Commerzbank AG.

Andre Carls is succeeded by new comdirect bank CEO Michael Mandel (41), who in different roles was responsible for Commerzbank AG's new market image and growth programme in retail banking and for the past three years was Group Manager of the central Private and Business Customers segment. Torsten Daenert (41), who joined the Board of Managing Directors of comdirect bank in January 2007, now becomes the CFO. New to the Board is Carsten Strauß (41) who has held various positions at comdirect bank over the past ten years, most recently that of Divisional Manager in Customer Services.
