Imtech: 60 Million Euro Mobility Contracts In The UK

Gouda, Netherlands, Feb 4, 2008 - (ABN Newswire) - Gouda, The Netherlands, 4 February 2008 - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it recently secured two important long term mobility contracts in the UK representing a total value of almost 60 million euro. These contracts will contribute significantly to both the growth and continuity of Imtech's activities in the mobility market.

Imtech secured a strong position in the European mobility market with the acquisition of Peek Traffic Limited in April 2007. Throughout Western Europe, especially in the UK and the Netherlands, and to some extent in Eastern Europe as well, Peek offers a large package of intelligent mobility solutions aimed at promoting free traffic flow, improved traffic safety, traffic management and reduction of harmful emissions. The demand for these high-tech solutions is growing substantially, partly as a result of the rapidly increasing volume of road traffic in Europe.

Peek (Imtech) is an important player in the mobility market in the UK and offers a unique combination of high-tech products, intelligent ICT systems and installation and maintenance services in both the urban and motorways environments. Customers include the Highways Agency (manager of motorways and major trunk roads in England), Transport for London (manager of the road network in London), and a large number of local government authorities.

Peek (Imtech), in a Joint Venture with Mouchels, has been selected as the Technology Managing Agent Contractor (TechMAC), for two Highway Agency regions in England (the Eastern and East Midlands) for a period of five years with the option of a two-year extension. This contract is for the management and maintenance of all traffic technology systems on a large proportion of England's motorways. Combined with the running National Roads Telecommunications Services (NRTS) contract, this new contract makes Peek (Imtech) the main technology partner for the Highways Agency.

Transport for London has awarded Peek (Imtech) a 5-year maintenance contract for the traffic signals infrastructure in the East and South East of London, including the areas around the main venues for the 2012 London Olympic Games. Overall the contract amounts to 40% of the traffic signals infrastructure in London. The contract commences on 1st April 2008 and has the possibility of a 2-year extension. Given the expected increase in traffic volume around the 2012 Olympic Games, Peek (Imtech) expects additional investments in intelligent mobility solutions in this area.
