Lycksele, Sweden, Jan 8, 2008 - (Hugin via ABN Newswire) - The Swedish Government has on, December 6, 2007, decided to reject the appeal by the Vapsten Same village against the Chief Mining Inspector's decision for a mining concession for Stortjärnhobben in the Community of Storuman in the County of Västerbotten, Sweden.
With the cabinet decision to reject the appeal by the Vapsten Same village, a reindeer herding organization, against the Chief Mining Inspector's decision for a mining concession for Lappland Guldprospektering AB's gold project at Stortjärnhobben, the Company has now received a final approval for its second mining concession on the Gold Line. The strategy of the Company is to build a centrally located processing plant for gold ores at Fäboliden and to feed the plant with ores from a larger area. Stortjärnhobben fits perfectly into this strategy. The Environmental Court's positive decision of the 21st of December last year, to grant permission for a mine and processing plant at Fäboliden, means that we now have the basic parts in place to accomplish the strategy of the Company.
At Stortjärnhobben a 750 m long gold mineralized zone with occasional high gold grades has earlier been indicated by core drilling. As the Company has secured an exploitation concession for Stortjärnhobben of 22 ha we are now ready to activate our plans for the project that entails continued investigation of the gold mineralized zone from underground positions. This will be done with core drilling in order to be able to estimate mineral resources. The plans includes approximately 600 m of ramp access and 3 000 m of core drilling totalling some 35 drill holes in 8 to 10 profiles with fan drilling. Some mineral samples will also be extracted for additional metallurgical tests for gold extraction. The Company will now proceed with procurements of the contracts needed and applications for necessary permits. The Company estimates that the planned activities will be sufficient to achieve the geological and metallurgical information necessary for a feasibility study of the area in question, says Karl-Åke Johansson, CEO.
