Stephen Joske is based in Beijing and runs the Economist Intelligence Unit's new China Forecasting Service, providing unique analysis on the outlook for the Chinese economy at the provincial level. He was previously the senior representative in China for Australia's Treasury.

He also worked for a number of years as Senior Adviser on macroeconomic policy to the former Australian Treasurer, Peter Costello. Stephen has been visiting China since 1978, and has degrees in Economics and Asian Studies from the Australian national University.
