Anode Material Pilot Processing Plant Ready for Operation
The PUREgraphite plant is ready for operation in the New Year, as planned, and will enable the business to manufacture its anode material products (including all process steps under one roof) in sufficient quantities to support comprehensive customer qualification programs going forward.
NOVONIX Limited CEO, Philip St Baker said that the achievement of an end-to-end capability to mill, shape and blend precursor materials, perform thermal purification, particle coatings, heat treatments, manufacture high quality electrodes and battery cells and perform comprehensive battery cell testing all under one roof was an important milestone for PUREgraphite since its establishment in April this year.
"The company is now well positioned to progress the commercialization of its anode materials in 2018."
"It will be manufacturing and customizing product samples for customer qualification programs (up to 50 kg per day) using our end-to-end pilot processing plant in Tennessee while also advancing a comprehensive program of higher volume trials (up to 20 ton) on equipment and services designed to prepare to scale the business to a capacity of 1,000 tpa by 30 June 2018, as planned," Mr St Baker said.
Mr St Baker said that the company will be continuing process and business development work in parallel to support competitive scaling of the business to much higher volumes in the future, up to 100,000 tpa.
