Sydney, April 30, 2015 AEST (ABN Newswire) - During the quarter Thomson Resources (
ASX:TMZ) acquired an outstanding tin exploration project located near the Ardlethan Mine, NSW. Ardlethan is the biggest tin occurrence in NSW and is recorded to have produced 25,000 tonnes of tin in concentrate from open cut and underground operations between 1964 and 1986.

Within the new tenements lies the key prospect of Bygoo North where previous mining during from 1912 to 1947 is estimated from mine records to have produced around 26,000 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 1.0% tin from underground workings on three levels to a maximum depth of 30m (Table 1 in link below).
Bygoo North has similar geology to the Ardlethan tin deposit 7km to the south. Most of the tin mineralisation at Bygoo is found within greisened Ardlethan Granite, one of the major host rock types at Ardlethan. The prospect also has a similar magnetic signature to that of Ardlethan, consisting of a magnetic high ringed by a magnetic low.
Former exploration at Bygoo North included limited drilling which generated a series of strong intersections (Table 2 in link below), including 46m @ 0.6% tin to the northeast of the magnetic anomaly, where most of the shallow historical workings occur. This drilling partially defined a sheet of mineralisation showing good continuity (Figure 4 in link below) approximately 20m thick, dipping steeply to the east and open to the north and west.
