Blackham Resources Limited (ASX:BLK) Announce Scaddan Project Coal Upgrading Results

ASX:BLK) has received encouraging results from preliminary coal upgrading test work on lignite samples from its Scaddan coal project in Western Australia. Licensable drying technology was used to produce the upgrade coal from the samples.
Coal from the start of the planned open cut pit area was used in the testing. The coal upgrading test work suggests the lignite can be dried to less than 0.01% moisture. The coal is expected to reabsorb 7-8% moisture which would result in a gross wet calorific value of 19.6 MJ/kg (4,690kcal). Detrimental elements in the ash can be significantly reduced to the chlorine being reduced by 95% to 0.29% on 8% moisture basis.
Blackham's coal upgrading test work has been ongoing with laboratory testing based upon a number of technologies which were all successful in reducing the moisture in the lignite resulting in a range between 7% to 25% moisture.

Further bench scale unit tests are necessary for designing of a commercial plant.
