BasWare Oyj (HEL:BAS1V) BASWARE CORP. STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE JANUARY 22, 2009

Basware adopts updated strategy for the years 2009-2012. The long term net sales growth objective remains in the range of 20-40 percent with operating profit margin of 10-20 percent of net sales.

Basware will launch new EPP (Enterprise Purchase to Pay) Automation Services offering during 2009 to target Software as a Service (SaaS) application space and services market. The SaaS market is predicted to see a remarkably higher growth than the software license market in the business application space.

EPP Automation Services offering is implemented with Basware's unique Enterprise Purchase to Pay product family functionality, including services from Einvoices and supplier management. The new offering will also include services which are typically handled within the customer organizations. With this new approach, Basware increases its customer business potential and also fosters the transformation to a more automated EPP process. Basware aims to be one of the leaders in the supplier networking arena within the strategy period.

EPP Automation Services will bring more predictability and transparency over Basware's revenue stream and profitability development. In 2008, revenue from continuous services (including maintenance) accounted for approximately a third of the total revenue. Basware predicts that EPP Automation Services revenue will increase significantly in the strategy period. More detailed business targets for EPP Automation Services will be released by the end of 2009.

Geographically Basware will grow in all of its markets. US, UK and Germany will remain in strategic position. The main focus is on the US market with more weight on the direct operational model. During 2009, more focus will be put into profitability in all areas. Basware has proceeded to expand to new markets and penetration in the APAC and Russian markets will be increased. In customer segmentation, a special focus area is large multinational companies which operate across several market areas.

Basware Enterprise Purchase to Pay product portfolio will be distributed in all markets with Basware Invoice Automation and Basware Purchase Management being the volume products. Several new value-added modules targeting the Procurement application space will be released for global distribution. Solutions based on next generation technology will be released from mid 2009 onwards. Basware has been ranked as the leading provider in its application area by independent industry analysts.

Basware's brand recognition and thought leadership is further strengthened by enforcing Basware's market awareness efforts.

The efficiency and scalability of Basware R&D is enhanced by steadily growing the Basware software factory in India. This will enable Basware to level the growth of R&D expenditure and increase the development resources, which has a positive impact on profitability.

Basware will continue to actively monitor the possibilities of strategy supporting acquisitions. Acquisition strategy is supported by Basware's strong operative cash flow and balance sheet. With the acquisitions, Basware will support the expansion of the distribution channel or enhance the EPP Automation Services offering.

Basware continues to actively follow the market situation and adjusts the strategy execution accordingly to correspond to the changing strategic landscape. With the solid vision and supporting business models and the on-going strategic projects, the company will realize the planned strategic objectives.
